Buriti Fruit Oil; Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil

Rich in vitamin A, Buriti Oil is a plant-based alternative to retinoids. It's high antioxidant and vitamin content make it ideal for combating free radicals, the aging process, and soothing dry skin. Buriti fruit has a chestnut shell that's beautifully patterned with bright yellow pulp inside. The pulp is used to make drinks, ice cream, preserves, and clean beauty products. The oil is a beautiful amber color, and a few drop go a long way. It can be applied directly to the skin or mixed with moisturizers and other beauty products to provide deep hydration. While beneficial for all skin types, it excels in treating dry, mature and aging skin, eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions.

Buriti Oil is the world's richest source of plant-based beta-carotene and also high in Vitamin C and Oleic and Linoleic acid. Buriti Oil rebuilds and hydrates skin cells and protects natural collagen and elastin while restoring moisture to aging or sun-damaged skin.

APPLICATION:

Buriti Fruit Oil is useful as a rejuvenator for aging or sun-damaged skin or blended with other carrier oils to dilute the color. Caution, may stain clothing and towels due to super beta-carotene concentration. Not recommended if pregnant due to natural phytoestrogen content.

This product is processed in a factory that has HACCP and UEBT certifications, USDA Organic Certification, RTPO (Peruvian technical regulations organic), NOP and EU organic certifications. Candela Peru is also a certified member of the World Fair Trade Organization.

Our Buriti Oil is sourced from the Peruvian Amazon where the fruit of the buriti tree is wild-harvested. The Mauritia Flexoa tree can be found throughout Central Brazil, and the Southern Amazon basin. Due to its incredible benefits, Buriti Oil is renowned both in the Amazon and internationally.

Buriti trees grow on peatlands, which store large amounts of carbon in their soil - the equivalent of approximately 40% of the total carbon stored in the entire population of tropical woody vegetation. Peru has the fourth largest area of peatlands in the tropics, about 15 million acres, so protecting buriti trees from being cut for their fruit is essential to preserving these carbon dense forests. We supply our producers with climbing harnesses to harvest the fruit in order to keep these valuable forests standing.
