KEY TO CONSCIOUSNESS
Everything in our store is Fair Trade imported, which means each of our 11,000 + artisan partners receive a price that covers the full production cost, and which allows for a living wage and other fair rewards to be earned. This covers basic needs such as food, shelter, education and health care for them and their families.
Compassionate Trade is taking fair trade to the next level; in addition to income generation trade is used to address global concerns such as education, healthcare, alternatives to drug trafficking, peace building, and environmental conservation by supporting and creating initiatives and projects that address these concerns, often in areas of extreme poverty.
Eco-Positive products are those that benefit the ecology of the planet and its species because of the materials that comprise it, the process to produce it, or in use.
Eco Positive products:
- Are composed of ecologically sound materials, such as recycled materials, sustainably-harvested natural materials, OR
- Are created using ecologically beneficial processes, such as natural dyes, organically grown, and replacing potentially harmful practices with environmentally-safe ones, OR
- Support the preservation of a species or ecological location by the way they are produced, for example rainforest conservation projects, etc., OR
- Are designed with an eco-effective lifecycle in mind, resulting in minimal waste through recycling, upcycling, or composting after use.
Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. Organically produced foods also must be produced without the use of antibiotics, synthetic hormones, genetic engineering and other excluded practices, sewage sludge, or irradiation. Cloning animals or using their products would be considered inconsistent with organic practices. Organic foods are minimally processed without artificial ingredients, preservatives, or irradiation to maintain the integrity of the food.

Recycling is a process of producing new products from used products or waste materials, thus giving a second-life to 'trash" and thereby preventing the myriad of problems associated with conventional waste disposal, reducing the consumption of precious resources, reducing energy usage, reducing air and water pollution, and lowering the emission of harmful greenhouse gasses.
Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse and, Recycle" waste hierarchy. Products produced from recycled or repurposed materials, such as bicycle chains, discarded tire tubes, plastic water bottles, metal cans, used packaging, textiles, and paper helps to promote conservation and a healthier planet.
While all of our products are cruelty-free (developed and produced without inhumane testing on animals), these items directly benefit them by protecting animals and their habitats through environmental conservation and sustainable production, preserving spieces, caring for sick and injured animals, and promoting education that adresses the welfare of animals.
