This beautiful hand-crafted gourd box representing the rhino is made by artisans at Tito Medina's workshop in Huancayo Peru. Gourd carving is a traditional craft of the Andean mountain region and in the Medina family it spans four generations. The art of carving gourds is helping to bring sustainable income to more than 20 artisans and their families.

The word rhinoceros comes from the Greek language, meaning rhino (nose) and ceros (horn). Did you know that amongst the African and Asian rhino species, the one horned rhino found in India and Java are an endangered species!! Besides from their horns, these large beasts are known for their bad eyesight, good hearing, and that they like to roll in mud so they don’t get sunburned.

Use this unique gourd box to store your trinkets, keys, coins etc. A great gift for wildlife lovers!

  • Measures approximately 3" high x 3-1/2" diameter
