Bats are very popular in Halloween folklore as they are closely associated with vampires. Native to the Americas, from Mexico to Argentina, the common vampire bat feeds mostly on the blood of mammals (including humans). These bats hunt only when it is fully dark; once it locates a host, such as a sleeping mammal, it lands and approaches it on the ground.

Our aesthetically crafted gourd boxes with flying bat silhouettes in black and orange are made by artisans at Tito Medina's workshop in Huancayo Peru. Gourd carving is a traditional craft of the Andean mountain region and in the Medina family it spans four generations. The art of carving gourds is helping to bring sustainable income to more than 20 artisans and their families.

Use this unique and fairly traded boxes for utility purposes as well as to decorate your home this Halloween and welcome count Dracula for a trick or treat!!!!!
